Who Am I?
Who am I? Wouldn't I
like to know! To answer this questions as briefly and painlessly
as possible.... I was born on March 6, 1975 in
Coudersport, PA the son of
Jack
Halloran and Sue Von Nieda. My father ran the local hardware
store and my mother a woman's clothing shop. Their parents were long
time residents of the area, Howard Halloran and Virginia Mitchell and
Harold B. "Whitey" Von Nieda and Pauline Clark, respectively.
Coudersport is a rural town with around 5,000 residents and one stoplight.
I grew up with no McDonalds, no nearby airport, no MTV...and to quote
Dana Carvey WE LIKED IT It was a great
childhood. I finished high school at an all
boys Catholic school,
Erie Cathedral Prep.
This was one of the best experiences of my life.
After graduating, I
attended the University of Richmond and finished with a B.S. in
Business Administration. While there I attended the
Universidad
de Deusto in San Sebastian, Spain. It was there that I
developed my understanding of the Spanish language and a love for Latin culture.
Upon graduation from
university, I
worked one year at a small software firm,
Oak Tree Systems in
Richmond, VA. We enjoyed a part of the "dot boom" and grew
rapidly. I worked hard and played a role
in the compay's growth, but knew I was seeking something different.
In under one year of employment, "retired" from the 9 to 5 and moved to Costa Rica
to begin my first company, Costa Rica
Pages.
Six years and several
successes and failures later, companies with which I am associated now
employ over 20 full-time staffers in Panama and Costa Rica. We
expect approximately $3M in gross sales in 2005. Expansion to a
third destination in Latin America is expected in 2006.
What I Believe:
1. Nice guys finish first 2. Truly wealthy people are not driven by cash 3. The role of government should be minimal in daily life 4. Discipline beats talent 5. Ethical businessmen will change the world
long before politicians
Although my main focus in life seems to be
business, I also enjoy fitness, art, yoga, salsa dancing and joking
around with my amigos. I tend to party hard and work hard.
